In 1970, the preparatory office of Nanniwan Cigarette Factory (the predecessor of Yan'an Cigarette Factory) launched the "Yan'an" trial product, and in 1972 began to produce "Yan'an" mechanism cigarettes.

In l997, "Yan'an" brand cigarettes won the titles of "Shaanxi Famous Brand Product" and "Chinese Consumer Trustworthy Product". In 2002, "Yan'an" brand cigarettes were rated as famous trademarks in Shaanxi Province by the Provincial Administration for Industry and Commerce.
